Pag-IBIG Invites More OFWs To Register As Members


The Home Development Mutual Fund or Pag-IBIG has confirmed that they are aiming to grow their membership base among the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs). Officials have said that they want to tap the market through partnering with a non-government corporation of overseas recruitment agencies.

Returning OFWs Are Now Exempted From Paying Travel Tax And POEA Fees

In a memorandum circular approved recently, we learn that OFWs returning to their jobs or employers abroad are now exempted from paying travel tax and the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) processing fee. Additionally, they will no longer be required to secure overseas employment certificate (OEC) anymore.

DOLE To Review Proposal For ₱125 Wage Hike


The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has officially ordered the review of a proposal for a ₱125 across-the-board wage hike. It is hoped that the salary increase will be presented and approved by concerned legislative bodies.
A DOLE memorandum reads:
“You are hereby instructed to convene your respective Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Boards (RTWPBs) to consult and generate consensus or comments on the anticipated filing of legislative measures proposing a PhP 125.00 across-the-board increase in the wages of workers in the private sector in the 17th Congress.”
The wage increase has been lobbied by various groups since the 13th Congress back in 2006. RTWPBs are legally responsible to determine and fix minimum wage rates and structures applicable for various regions. Read more

Adonis Lagangan, an Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW) who works as mechanical engineer, recently made headlines after he built his own electric car.
