Filipino teachers and undergraduates will surely be happy with this new announcement.
According to the Japanese Embassy in the Philippines, they are now accepting applications for Teacher Training and Japanese Studies categories for the Japanese Government Scholarship Program for 2016.
This program is open for interested teachers who want to conduct research on Japanese Universities and for undergraduates who want to take up a 1-year study for their degree.
For the Teacher Training category, applicants should observe the following requirements:
- Teacher in Elementary/Secondary Level, or an academic staff at a teacher training institution.
- 5 years teaching experience
- Good academic standing
- Not more than 35 years old
- 5 years of study in education management, methods of education, special subjects, observation study, etc.
Japanese Studies, on the other hand, have these qualifications:
- Must be a Japanese Studies Major
- Knowledgeable in the Japanese Language
- Good academic standing
- Between 18 to 29 years old
- 1 year of study Japanese language, life & culture, and other related subjects
The scholarship is being offered to teachers and undergraduates from the Philippines by the Japanese Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science, and Technology (MEXT).
Those interested should visit the Japanese Embassy’s Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) Library to obtain application forms and for more details. Otherwise, the forms may also be downloaded from the official website of the embassy. (Japan embassy website)

The deadline for submission of applications will be on February 19, 2016, Friday.
Just be reminded that only hard copies (preferably on A4 size paper) and mailed or hand-delivered to the embassy will be honored. The embassy does not accept online applications. Aside from sending an application, individuals may also look prepare for screening, written exams, and interview.
