Planning to travel to the United States as a tourist? Well that means you need to get a Nonimmigrant Visa soon.
As its name implies, Nonimmigrant Visas are for tourists who are planning to visit the United States for a definite period of time. This visa will allow you to tour the country, visit your friends and relatives, seek medical treatment, or attend company and business-related functions.
Here are the requirements:
- Valid passport.
If this is your first time to apply for a US Visa, you may want to go beyond the minimum 6-month validity required from Filipino travelers.
- Enter your Visa Application online.
With a valid passport at hand, your next step is to enter your Visa application via the official US Embassy website at ph.usembassy.gov.
Be careful and truthful when filling up the online application since some of the questionnaires will be part of your interview.
- Pay the required Visa Application Fee.
At the moment, Visa Application Fee will cost you $160.00. Payments can be made via Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI). Just bring a printed copy of the US Visa Application Deposit Slip which you can get online after completing the forms.
Take note that the deposit slip has an expiration date. If you miss the deadline, you would have to visit the website again and obtain a new deposit slip.
After depositing the payment, make sure to keep the bank receipt. Your receipt number will be asked once you set an appointment online.
Also, keep in mind that the payment is non-refundable, whether or not you are eventually granted a Visa.
- Complete the DS-160 form and submit it online.
Follow the instructions for taking and submitting your picture. Remember that the system will not accept your file if it doesn’t match the requirements. Once you’ve accomplished the DS-160, email yourself a copy for reference purposes.
- Create a profile in the Visa Application system.
Last but not the least, you will need to create a profile in the Visa Application system. This will allow you to schedule an appointment for your interview.
To create your profile, you will need the following:
- Your Passport number
- Receipt number from the bank payment
- The ten-digit barcode number from your DS-160 confirmation page
After confirming an interview schedule, prepare the required documents and wait for the appointment date.
