Need to renew your Philippine passport while you are employed in Malaysia as an overseas Filipino worker (OFW)? That can be easily done if you comply with the requirements and follow the steps we will share below.
Requirements
To begin with, you have to submit the following requirements:
- An accomplished ePassport Application Form, copies of which can be downloaded online or obtained at the embassy.
- Your recent old passport
- Present passport and photocopy of inside and back cover. The pages should show the latest Bureau of Immigration departure and arrival stamps.
- Photocopy of Employment Contract.
Other Important Reminders
When visiting the embassy, be sure to wear proper attire. Slippers, singlets, sandos, and shorts are considered inappropriate. Also, bring MYR 231(approximately US $54) for your passport fee.
Passport Renewal Process
You wouldn’t have to set an appointment for passport renewal. Just go straight to the embassy and get all your documents ready.
Once at the gate, you will be asked to present your ID so you can be given a visitor’s pass. After that, proceed to the office and line up on the ePassport window. Submit the required documents for verification and encoding.
Next, go to the cashier and pay the passport fee of MYR 231.
When you’re done with that, proceed to room #1 to get your photo and biometrics taken. They will then return your passport with receipts attached to it.
Getting Your Passport
Your passport will be released at least 30 days or so after your renewal. When claiming it, be sure to bring your old passport and receipts.
