An OFW who works as a construction worker in Saudi Arabia can finally quit his job and go back to the Philippines for good. Thanks to being an avid lotto player!
This was after the said OFW won the jackpot prize in the Lotto 6/42 draw last August 4, 2016. According to reports, he won the total amount of P111,998,556.00. He was the lone winner. For nine years straight, the 33-year-old OFW has been betting on the numbers 33-35-13-27-05-12 through the help of his wife. He said that the numbers are actually a combination of his wife and son’s birthdates, ages, and their anniversary date.
Last August 4, however, he had the chance to make the bet himself while he was on vacation. He purchased the winning ticket at a lotto booth in the province of Cavite which led to his unexpected fortune. He eventually claimed his prize at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in Mandaluyong City last August 8, 2016. He declared that, after working for 10 years overseas, he will now be staying in the country to focus on his family and to establish his own business. He also said he will save a portion of the money for their son’s future.
“It was really hard working as an overseas Filipino worker, especially as a contractual worker in a construction firm,” confessed the lucky winner to PCSO Vice Chair and General Manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II.
Rojas said the winner is still trying to decide what kind of business to put up but it definitely looks like “he will never go back abroad.”
Meanwhile, the previous jackpot winner in the lotto was a retiree from Novaliches, Quezon City who won P194.6M.
Congratulations to the lucky winner! May you be wise as you use and grow the awesome blessing that you have received.
