Rosalinda Baldoz, secretary of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), recently announced that the Labor Day celebration for this year will be highlighted by a nationwide job fairs.
According to Baldoz, DOLE will conduct modified Job Fairs in 44 areas across 17 regions in the country on May 1.
“The 2016 Labor Day celebration underscores the DOLE’s effort in developing the country’s top resource, our workers, and generating decent and productive jobs to secure a brighter future for the country,” remarked Baldoz.
This year’s theme for the said celebration will be “Kinabukasan Sigurado sa Disenteng Trabaho.”
During the job fairs, DOLE will also be conducting Career Fair for youth and students who want further guidance for making correct career choices. This will showcase industries that are expected to generate employment in the next 7 to 10 years.
Baldoz said:
“The Career Fair will feature the on-going human resource development initiatives of the DOLE in partnership with labor groups, employers, key sectors, and other government agencies. It will build on the Human Resource Development Roadmap and the Labor and Employment Plan for 2016-2022 to prepare the youth for the future of work.”
The Labor Secretary added that they are expecting about 3,000 youth and student participants for the Career Fair.
Furthermore, the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), Department of Education (DepEd), Department of Science and Technology (DOST), Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA), and Professional Regulations Commission (PRC) will likewise be showcased in the events to explain about their respective programs.
Also the nationwide event will also feature livelihood counseling, skills training, and livelihood skills demonstration.
To ensure the speed up processing of job applications and other employment-related documentation, the DOLE and its Regional Offices include to the participation of the following Philippine agencies, National Bureau of Investigation, Social Security System, PAG-IBIG Fund, PhilHealth, Bureau of Internal Revenue, and National Statistics Office, which provide their own booths at the job fair sites.
