The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has just recently announced that two companies from Taiwan have confirmed that they need more overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and that they will do it via direct hiring process.
Rosalinda Baldoz, secretary of DOLE, reported that the companies will be hiring additional people via the International Direct e-recruitment System for the Special Hiring Program for Taiwan (SHPT-IDES). The two firms are namely Nanya Plastics and Top Union Electronics.
“Taiwan and the Philippines,” according to Baldoz “are benefiting immensely from this OFW hiring system.”
Along with this announcement, the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO) has said that executives from Nanya Plastics will be in the Philippines to screen and interview applicants from January 13 to 15, 2016.
Llewelyn Diaz, a Polo official, commented “From the applicants who will qualify, Nanya Plastics will choose the top 50 workers for deployment before the second week of February. These will mostly factory and production workers.”
Top Union Electronics staff, on the other hand, will be conducting online interviews for interested applicants.
Additionally, Taiwanese manufacturing company Powertech Technology Inc. has been testing the non-broker system through their rehiring process.

“The first batch of the re-hired workers who did not pass through private brokers, composed of 27 workers, will arrive in Taiwan on the first week of January,” commented Diaz about it.
POEA will facilitate the OFW recruitment under the SHPT-IDES program.
