People love to travel and it’s actually the latest craze. Especially when there are long weekends, you can be sure that travel buddies will be boarding the plane and spend the weekend somewhere far away from home to relax and unwind. After all, they work so hard and they deserve to relax even for just a few days. During your travels you have to keep in mind that the passport and boarding pass must be taken care of. You have to place it in a secured part of your bag. It shouldn’t be disregarded or you might end up in trouble.
Travelers usually take good care of their passports but take their boarding pass for granted. They just set it aside once they are done with their travel. Most of the time, they consider their boarding pass as a simple evidence of travel or perhaps something to brag about. The traveler usually takes a photo of the boarding pass and posts it on their social media account. After the travel, it is simply thrown away or left somewhere. For them, it’s just an ordinary piece of paper that contains flight number, passenger’s name, and seat and gate number. But do you know that it isn’t safe to just throw away your boarding pass? It can pose a danger to you and even your family.
Forensic expert, Winston Krone explained that the boarding pass contains all the personal details of the passenger. The name, address, contact number and email add is encoded in the bar code of the boarding pass. If it’s just thrown away and a hacker unfortunately gets his hand on it, all he has to do is place the boarding pass in the bar code reader. All the personal information of the passenger will then be revealed. Even the financial details of the passenger can be traced and this is one of the most dangerous parts when the boarding pass gets into the hands of a hacker.
Always follow these important tips when traveling. Take care of the boarding pass the way you take care of the passport. Don’t just leave it on your seats or throw it away to avoid the misfortune of someone else gaining access to your personal details that can lead to a more serious problem on your personal and financial security. Taking photos of the boarding pass should also be avoided because if it gets noticed by a professional hacker, you’ll be in big trouble. Just enjoy your travel and there’s no need to brag about it and take photos of your boarding pass. Through the advancement of technology, nothing is impossible anymore. In a just a few clicks or swipe, all your details might be exposed. It is always best to travel safe and take extra caution. Always tear your boarding pass after every travel. Make sure that you tear it in a way that it would be impossible to recreate it again. Throw it in a trash can afterwards. Better be safe than sorry.
