Here are the requirements you need to prepare and the process you must follow in getting married in the Philippines.
The preparations for a wedding are very costly and hassle in the Philippines. Some couples need to allot one year to make sure everything is set up in order for that very special day. The most important thing to do first in your wedding preparation is your license. Without it, your gown, suit, catering and all other preparations will be useless.

You and your future spouse need to get these requirements in applying for a marriage license:
- Application form from the Local Civil Registry Office
- NSO birth certificate
- Certificate of No Marriage or commonly called CENOMAR
- Cedula
- 1×1 photo
- Parent consent for couples or individuals who are 18-21 years old.
- Parent advice for couples or individuals who are 22-25 years old.
- Death certificate of the spouse for widows or widowers
- Certificate of Legal Capacity for other nationalities
Once you have all the requirements, you need to submit them to the Local Civil Registrar’s office in your municipality. Then, you have to attend the required seminars and counseling in preparation for a new life. There are two counseling and seminars you must appear to: pre-marriage counseling provided by the church or DSWD and Family planning and parenthood seminar from the municipal office. Once done, you just have to wait for your marriage license to be released. Normally, it will become available 10-15 days from the date of submission. After the acquisition of the marriage license, then the much awaited ceremony. You may do it within four months or 120 days from the date of the release. After that, you would need to process your marriage certificate. You may apply it in NSO office and would cost approximately 155 pesos.
