News recently broke that the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) will be offering an exclusive one-time financial assistance worth Php 20,000.00 for overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) stranded in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA).
OFWs who are qualified for the said grant are those who have not receive their salaries or end-of-service benefits from the companies listed below:
• ALUMCO LLC
• ARABTEC CONSTRUCTION LLC
• MOHAMMED AL MOJIL GROUL (MMG)
• MOHAMMED HAMEED AL BARGASH & BROS TRADING & CONSTRUCTION
• RAJEH H AL MERRI CONTRACTING COMPANY
• REAL ESTATE DEVELOPMENT AND INVESTMENT COMPANY
• SAUDI BIN LADIN GROUP OF COMPANIES (SBG)
• SAUDI OGER LTD (SOL)
Additionally, Php 6,000.00 will also be given in case the family of the said OFW still remains at the job site in KSA.
As for the required documents, OFWs should submit the following to qualify for the financial assistance:
1) For affected OFWs still at the job site:
• Accomplished Application Form (which can be acquired from the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, the Philippine Embassy, or the Philippine Consulate General). The form should have a POLO seal and a signature of an OWWA officer.
• Proof of Identity
• Iqama
• Passport
• Payslip
• Employment Contract
2) For repatriated workers:
• Accomplished Application Form. The form should have a POLO seal and a signature of an OWWA officer.
• Passport or Travel Document
• Proof of Unpaid Salaries
3) For OFW family members who are with them at the job site in Saudi Arabia:
• Accomplished Application Form. The form should have a POLO seal and a signature of an OWWA officer.
• Proof of Relationship to the OFW
• Photocopy of Birth Certificate
• Photocopy of Marriage Certificate
A Welfare Officer will be assigned to visit various campsites where OFWs are located to check the documents and assist in the processing of the application.
The OWWA MOI NO. 008, dated 25 July 2016, also mention the following information:
• Qualified OFWs who are still at the job site may receive their financial assistance through the Welfare Officer in
Saudi Arabia; or
• Qualified OFWs who have already been repatriated may claim their P20,000 financial assistance through the OWWA Regional Office closest to them; and
• Families of the qualified OFWs who have remained at the job site in Saudi Arabia may claim their P6,000 financial assistance through the OWWA Regional Welfare Office closest to them.
