A cooperative composed of overseas Filipino workers’ families and ambulant vendors in Mexico, Pampanga will be able to improve their livelihood.
The members of the said cooperative were given negokarts and trailers at ceremony recently. In attendance was Mayor Roy Manalastas who spearheaded the project. With his help, 29 recipients were given negokarts and trailers from the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
In addition to the business carts, recipients were also granted accessory and production capitals.
Along with Mayor Manalastas, Arlene Tolentino (officer in charge of DOLE Pampanga) and Romeo Tiglao (Municipal Public Employment Service Officer) were present, too. According to Tolentino, this project is intended to help unemployed individuals. That way, they could earn bigger and increase their income.
On the other hand, Misasanmetung Pamilyang OFW ning Balen Mexico also received a nego-trailer from the local government for their bottom-up budgeting program. Mayor Manalastas hopes that through programs such as this initiative, unemployment would go down and people would have better lives. He encouraged the beneficiaries to take excellent care of what they received and to do their best in ensuring future profit.
The recipients, needless to say, are very grateful to DOLE and the local government for choosing them.
