Good news for Filipinos looking for overseas employment.
A new report has surfaced declaring that more Singapore companies are planning to hire additional people within this year.
According to the Hudson Report, at least 41% of employers in Singapore have plans of increasing their workforce while the other 53% are intending on retaining their current number of workers. Furthermore, the report likewise indicated that merely 6% of companies in Singapore had plans of lowering their headcount.
The survey covered 383 employers and 758 employees.
Emmanuel White, Regional Director of Hudson Singapore, said that employers are “feeling confident enough to put hiring back on the agenda.” Despite the fact that he pointed out that the 2015 hiring outlook declined because of the weaker Chinese economy and unstable global financial markets, it looks like things will improve a lot during this year.
“The regional economy has proven to be reasonably resilient, and while Singapore’s economic growth forecast may be subdued, we are still seeing growth in certain industries and employers are taking note,” declared White in a press release.
Among the employers that are planning to hire additional people, at least 69% will be doing so because of organizational growth. More employees will mean that they can sustain their growth.
“It’s positive to see that organizations are planning for growth, White added. “However, the more buoyant the economy, the harder it will be to attract people with the right skills and experience. In this market, there will be strong competition for talent.”
The survey data also revealed that the sectors that need more people are Media/PR/Advertising (59%), Professional Services (57%), and IT&T (53%).
White explained “Many companies are investing more in digital marketing and e-commerce, and often outsourcing these specialist activities to agencies where we expect much of the hiring activity to be concentrated for Marketing, PR and Advertising.”
