After the long waiting of migrant workers proposal bill by lawmakers here in Taiwan, the Ministry of Labor (MOL) finally set their mind to allow migrants workers to stay longer for work in Taiwan. From 12 years before now it’s been verified for 15 years of work abroad opportunity.
As the Taiwan news stated nineteen lawmakers led by Kuomintang Legislator Chiang supports the said proposal amendment, aside from 15 years work the lawmakers also proposed to dispose the regulation requiring migrant workers to leave the Taiwan for at least one day when their working permit expires before re-entering the country to work under a renewed or new permit.
The official Labor Minister Chen Hsiung-wen believe that, this moved will solidify the working relationship between employers and migrant workers. Along with that it will save the training cost and retain talented migrants.
