At the end of a busy day, some of us enjoy drinking a bottle of beer or two as we relax our tired bodies. Some may call this habit their own little “guilty pleasure” but if the experts are to be believed, there is actually no reason to feel any guilt at all because drinking can actually have health benefits for you.
According to a study by the American Society of Human Genetics, drinking one or two alcoholic beverages may actually slow the aging process down.
Sounds unbelievable?
Well, that’s what several scientists have officially found out following an extensive research. This is absolutely good news for you particularly if you are into moderate drinking.
The study reads:
“Moderate alcohol use—about one to two drinks per day—was correlated with the healthiest aging, while very low and high consumption were linked to accelerated aging.”
The researchers made this discovery after digging into old information and found out that DNA was able to tell them how much certain people drank. Through the study, the researchers were able to calculate the difference between people’s biological age (how old a person seems) verses the chronological age (the actual time the person has been alive). They then came up with the conclusion that those who at least had a drink or two every single day were in a much better shape than those who didn’t or those who had too much.
So just in case you feel like grabbing a bottle of beer from your fridge tonight, go ahead and do so. Reward yourself with something and don’t ever feel guilty again. You definitely deserve it and, as science tells us, you owe it to your body, too – especially if you want to stay young-looking in the years to come.
Cheers, alcohol drinkers!
