Varicose veins are enlarged, twisted veins under the skin of the legs.
Women absolutely hate them but they still get these irritating varicose veins because of certain things. For example, standing for long periods of time could be one of the causes. Other factors include pregnancy, obesity, lack of exercise, etc.
Some of the most effective treatments include surgery and laser treatment, although both are obviously expensive. There are, however, natural home remedies you can use if you want to get rid of varicose veins.
Here are some of them:
- Elevate your feet when sleeping or resting.
This will improve blood flow which in turn decreases symptoms and complications of varicose veins. You may use pillows or you may rest your feet against the wall. Do this for at least 10 to 15 minutes for 3 times a day to increase blood flow.
- Monitor your weight.
As mentioned above, obesity can trigger varicose veins so do your best to be fit and healthy. Watch your weight and shed those excessive fats to see great improvements in your condition.
- Consume less sodium.
As much as possible, eat less sodium-filled food and focus more on fruits, vegetables, grains, and seeds.
- Keep moving.
Do not stay in a single position. Keep moving if you want to lessen the problem. If the nature of your work requires you to stand for extended periods of time, you may switch the legs the pressure is on. Combined with healthy diet, exercising for at least 10 minutes a day can be a big help, too.
- Take a carrot and spinach juice.
Ideally taken during breakfast, the carrot and spinach juice has been proven to decrease inflammation and water retention, plus improve blood flow.
- Use apple cider vinegar.
Apply apple cider vinegar on your varicose veins 3 times a day. This can help in shrinking the veins back to its normal size.
