Here’s another recent announcement for the upcoming year.
According to a report released by Arabic daily Al Hayat, passengers entering and leaving airports in Saudi Arabia will soon have to pay taxes beginning January 1, 2016.
The Kingdom’s civil aviation authority will implement the charges soon and it has been said that it will be amounting to SAR 87 (approximately, Php 1,093). The new fee will be collected from all international passengers, both inbound and outbound. Carriers that will fail to comply with the fee will be subjected to penalties.

It has also been said that the fees will be reviewed every three years and will possibly be adjusted depending on inflation.
This will be a big jump from the previous fee of only SAR 50. This likewise applied to international passengers flying in and out of the country. It has not been specified whether the new taxes will be added or simply replace the existing charges.
Either way, passengers taking international flights should prepare their money for this additional tax should they board planes within Saudi Arabia airports so as to avoid experiencing any hassles during their trip.
